What a summer it has been! Busy and full, nostalgic and adventurous. From a senior trip vacation with my youngest to helping serve with Mobile Missions Network for my first season of missions camps, I’ve learned so much.
On vacation I was reminded that I am not who I used to be, and really, that’s a good thing. I use to be a lost soul looking for fulfillment and completion in romantic relationships, not knowing who I really was or how to be who I was created to be. I didn’t even know what I didn’t know.
Thankfully, God is full of grace and pursued me until I surrendered my life to Jesus. And now I know who I am. A daughter of the King of Kings, redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I have been made new and made whole. I have found the One who completes me.
As I helped with missions teams this summer, I really don’t feel like I did much. I folded some towels. I ran some errands. I visited with some team leaders. I delivered some lunches. I helped a little in the kitchen from time to time and I prayed often over the teams, staff and leadership.
It was amazing to see God at work through the efforts of the teams. They went into various Tulsa communities and loved on whoever they came in contact with, they presented the gospel and prayed with them. And some of the residents in these communities discovered what they didn’t even know they didn’t know. They discovered a loving Father and His son Jesus longed to be in relationship with them and they accepted. They are not who they use to be. They have been redeemed and made new.
I am humbled and thankful to get to serve as a missionary with MMN. It’s not the ministry I thought I would be doing when I move to Oklahoma but it is the ministry God has invited me into and even when it’s exhausting and challenging, I love it! As we move into the fall I have the privilege and opportunity to continue writing a book, help with a community prayer project, partner with a sweet friend on a women’s ministry project God has put on her heart, and do some one on one mentoring/coaching/discipleship that I am excited about. I am also in the process of completing an application for endorsement as a Community Chaplain through Chaplain Fellowship Ministries. This endorsement will open more doors for me to be able to provide crisis, trauma and grief care to those in the Tulsa Metro area.
Please pray that the work God has begun this summer in and around Tulsa through MMN’s missions teams will continue. Pray for the seeds that have been planted to be watered and nurtured. Please pray for me also, that I will be diligent in serving the Lord in the ways He invites me to and that all of my efforts will glorify Him.
